Day 15 - Museums & Gardens

After breakfast, we’ll take the bus to the north end of the city to visit the Botanical Garden. Depending on the time (or the weather), we could walk; it’s 1.7 km from the museum to the garden, so 20-30 minutes. The garden includes outdoor and indoor spaces, plants from a number of different biomes, and a butterfly habitat. Entry is included in your trip.

Victims of Communism Museum Provides information and stories of people persecuted under two periods of communist rule, from 1945-1968, and 1969-1989. If you visited the House of Terror in Budapest, you might feel like skipping this one. Entry $8.

Holy Trinity Church This is another church with a rather plain façade that has behind it an extravagantly painted interior. Attendants can provide a short description of the building, and then you may admire at your leisure.

St Urban Tower & bell. The belltower dates back to the 14th century. The cracked bell that stands next to it in the square fell and broke when the tower was damaged by fire.

St Michael's Chapel. Originally built as a cemetery chapel in the 14th century, it is now a church used for weddings and baptisms as well.

St Elisabeth's Cathedral & tower. This is the largest church in Slovakia. Besides being spectacular from the outside, the interior is beautiful, too. A complete ticket allows a leisurely visit inside, as well as a climb up the belltower, which is completely worth the 216 steps you'll need to take!
